A Bridge Too Far
Parachute Regiment troops billeted at Easton Hall throughout 1944 wrote their names into military history as the men who held the road bridge at Arnhem against overwhelming German odds. Airborne forces of three nations - the United Kingdom, United States and Poland - were based in the East Midlands. Theirs was the unique Airborne brotherhood, forged within a green corner of Lincolnshire and born of hope, conviction and a determination to fight for liberty.
During 1944, the magnificent Easton Hall was the base for 'A' Company, 2nd Parachute Battalion, training relentlessly alongside its Allies amidst a world foreign to those from the United States and Poland.
The Hall was demolished after the war but the its former site can be visited today within Easton Walled Gardens. Click here for more information:
